In My Opinion: So many video games, so little time
By Chris on Jan 30, 2008 in Video Games/Systems
Before I start my rant, I must tell you that I am a video game… (for lack of a better word) freak (it’s still morning and my IV of caffeine just isn’t doing it for me) I love video games in all their glory, but these days, there are so many of them out there, that I’ll never have enough life left to play them all. Unless of course they make a game called Life and I can be digitally inserted into a game. Dare to dream!! So how do I as a consumer pick the best system with the limited amount of cash flow coming from this site. I have come to the conclusion that the best way to choose a system is based on the games that are made for it. About the time that the Sony PSP came out, Nintendo came out with a better version of the game boy advance SP called the DS lite. Now I think the PSP is a much better system in terms of graphics and usability (I am a FPS whore.) There are some great hacks that I have seen for it, and the graphics are just as good, if not better than the PSone. BUTT, (man that’s a big butt) the DS lite wins with me. When I buy a console, I buy it for the quality of the games that are made for it and the DS lite is no exception. It has some of the best quality, fun, and imaginative games I have played on any system. Not to mention that there are many many different games to choose from. That’s why I say for now, piss on the PS3. Amazing graphics, too much money, not enough quality games, you be the judge. It’s like George Lucas once said (and I’m sure I’m misquoting him) “A special effect without a good back story is just a light show” The same is true with video game graphics. We NEED a great story/fun to play and if the graphics come with it, even better.
