LCD T V About once every three days someone shows up at my desk asking which lcd t v they should buy and I figured that it was about time to compile a list of sets I would consider. One thing you need to consider besides the model is the size of the set. This is to avoid a screen door effect (lines between the pixels) that may be visible if you sit to close.

The right size depends on the distance your TV will be from the viewing position:

For 20 to 27-inch displays, you should be two and a half to five feet away.
For 32 to 37-inch TVs, you should be back six to eight feet.
For 42 to 46-inch TVs, you’ll need nine to twelve feet.
50-inch LCD displays look best when viewed from more the twelve feet from the screen.
